Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), in Washington DC. She joined NBC News Washington two years after that as a general reporter. The year 1981 saw her begin covering the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. She was made as the head White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell appeared as both an anchor and a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. She was a member of an advisory panel during the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell covered a range of noteworthy stories including arm control, budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal and was frequently along with the President Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
