Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started working as a TV and radio reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years after that as general reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began covering the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. and the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and participated as panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell reported on for the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. She covered many notable reports, including arm control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
