Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News two year later. In 1981, she began covering the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional correspondent. In 1992, she was named the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist as well as anchor of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debate in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories such as arm control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended numerous summits in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
